Good Morning – It is day 3 of our journey. Today we will read Genesis 8-11 covering; The receding flood waters, Gods Covenant with Noah, The lineage of Noah’s sons and thier migration throughout the earth, The Tower of Babel and We are introduced to Abram and his family for the first time.

A couple interesting points from our reading;

1 – In Genesis 2:5-6 the bible tells us the Lord God had not sent rain upon the earth but streams burst forth from the earth making rivers. Then in chapter 7:11-12 “on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.” This has led many Scholars to theorize that when the rains began and the Lord God closed the door of the Ark it was the first time rain had fallen on the earth. Interesting?

2- The rainbow was first meant a sign from GOD!! A reminder that the Lord God promises to never destroy the earth again, a reminder that the Lord God cares about the world. Sadly, the LGBTQ community has hijacked the symbol of the rainbow to represent something else altogether. The picture above shows the ARK Encounter Attraction in Williamstown KY. (I have visited and highly recommend) The Co-founder of the attraction Ken Ham, wrote “The rainbow was a symbol of God’s promises before the LGBTQ movement – and will continue to be after that movement has ended. As Christians, we need to take the rainbow back and teach our young people its true meaning.” The rainbow lighting has become a permanent fixture at the attraction.

3 – Genesis 10 is referred to as the Table of Nations because it lists the 70+ descendants of Noah with clues as to where they migrated to after the flood. There several detailed studies that use information from the bible and 1st century historian Joesphus to provide a more detailed map of where the descendants of Noah settled. I encourage you to do your own research.

That’s it for today…
