Things to Ponder – Day 16

“Land O’ Goshen!” – My grandmother used to say this all time but as a kid I thought she was saying “lantic ocean” and I thought what is she talking about. Later in life I learned that “land o’ Goshen!” is a phrase that meant surprise, dismay or exasperation. What does this have to do with today’s reading… probably nothing, just one of those stupid things that rattle around in my brain.

Another semi interesting point is the land of Goshen in Egypt was a fertile plain well suited for the lives of shepherds. At first the Israelites are honored guests of Pharaoh due to his respect for Joseph, but Goshen ends up being the land of their captivity.
