Read the Bible in a Year – Day 13

Good Morning Everyone;

Today is Friday the 13th, let us get it started on the right foot by reading the bible. Today’s Scriptures are Genesis 38-40. Today’s reading is full of things we might see in a reality tv series nowadays. Judah has a child with his daughter-in-law, Joseph flees Potiphar’s wife and ends up in jail. Finally Joseph interprets the dreams of the cupbearer and the baker while in prison. You can find today’s reading at;

Things to Ponder!

What is the significance of Judah and Tamar’s story?

What can we learn from the stories of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife and the cup bearer and baker?

Things to Ponder from Day 12

What’s in a name, why does God rename people? Names were very important in ancient times as your name usually had some meaning behind it. Abram meant “High Father” but Abraham means “Father of a multitude”; Sarai meant “My Princess while Sarah means “mother of nations.” From Genesis 35 God tells Jacob, whose name means “supplanter, deceiver” to Israel meaning “struggles with God.” When ever the Lord changes someone’s name it is because he wants to give them a new identity.

What is the significance of Esau’s descendants? Just like the descendant’s of Ishmael, the descendants of Esau will be a constant torn in the sides of the Israelites.

What is the significance of Jacob’s descendants? Jacob or Israel’s descendants become the 12 tribes of Israel, the “chosen people” that God will bring out of Egypt under the leadership of Moses.
